In the 1800s, Chinese immigrants came to Texas to work. They came from a place across the Pacific Ocean known as China.

When the Chinese arrived, they faced a lot of prejudice from people already in Texas. This was mostly because of the way the Chinese looked. Although many people treated them unfairly, they helped in the growth of Texas.
