Each year, more than 1,000 individuals and company employees from across the city of San Antonio and the state of Texas volunteer their time to support the Texas Folklife Festival. From working at the gates greeting the visitors to selling souvenirs, each and every volunteer is essential in ensuring that the traditions of the Texas Folklife Festival continue for future generations.

Volunteers receive a complimentary wristband for free access to the Texas Folklife Festival all three days. By volunteering, you will have the opportunity to meet new people, help others and know that your contribution of time and talents positively affects the preservation of the Lone Star State's diverse cultures.

If you would like to volunteer, please call (210) 458-2216, send an email to denise.villarreal@utsa.edu, or download and submit the Volunteer Application to the Volunteer Coordinator at the Institute of Texan Cultures.

If you are interested in arranging volunteer opportunities for your office, company or organization, please contact Denise Villarreal at (210) 458-2275, or send an email to denise.villarreal@utsa.edu.

Volunteers who represent local companies or organizations are encouraged to wear company T-shirts. This creates a sense of "community" for your group and also provides valuable exposure for the company.

Volunteers will also receive training. During our training session, volunteers will receive a briefing on job descriptions, check-in procedures, rules and guidelines, etc. Volunteers will also receive a Volunteer handbook, a VIA brochure and their wristband (valid for all three days of the festival).
