The Value of Volunteers

Do you love food? Arts and crafts? Great music? Learning about different cultures? Helping others? If so, the Texas Folklife Festival (TFF) invites you, your fellow workers and/or members of a civic organization to volunteer your time to support San Antonio’s cultural celebration. As a volunteer, you will reap rewards, meet new people, feel good about giving back to your community and, most importantly, have fun!

Each and every volunteer receives a four-day wristband to enjoy the TFF, free of charge. There is also a volunteer orientation to get you acquainted with the various roles and explain your specific volunteer position—of which there are many from which to choose.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Pre-Festival Preparations
  • Gate Workers
  • Greeters
  • Coupon Redemption
  • Command Center
  • Information Center
  • Dressing Room Monitor
  • Volunteer Headquarters
  • Special Promotions
  • Money Runner
  • Freight Elevator Operator
  • Traffic Control

Each and every position is critical to the event’s success and we are most grateful to our volunteers for ensuring this rich tradition continues.

There are three simple ways you can become a volunteer:

  1. Download the application and mail or fax it in;
  2. Call the TFF Volunteer Hotline at 210.458.2216 and speak with a recruiter to apply over the phone; or
  3. E-mail dvillarreal@utsa.edu to express your interest in volunteering.

When you serve as a TFF volunteer, you are making a pledge that the citizens of San Antonio and those who venture from out of town understand we are all more similar than different and that Texas’ diversity is what makes this state so special!

So, don’t wait, sign up to volunteer now and feel good about helping others…
