Texas Folklife FestivalThe 33rd Annual Texas Folklife Festival (June 10-13, 2004) is a four-day, fun-filled cultural celebration showcasing Texas ethnic diversity, strength and rich heritage with over 150 delectable dishes created by more than 40 ethnic groups, 50 talented arts and craft vendors, 10 outdoor stages featuring the Lone States finest musical entertainers and ethnic dancers, storytellers, hands-on activities, artisan demonstrations, competitions, carnival rides and so much more! HoursThursday, June 10, 5 11 p.m.Friday, June 11, from 5 11 p.m. Saturday, June 12, from Noon 11 p.m. Sunday, June 13 from Noon 9 p.m. LocationThe Texas Folklife Festival is held in downtown San Antonio at the Institute of Texan Cultures 22-acre campus located at the corner of Bowie Street and Durango Boulevard in HemisFair Park. TicketsIn AdvanceBeginning May 1 through June 1, discounted adult tickets for $8, childrens tickets (6-12 years old) for $4, as well as an adult four-day pass for $25 may be purchased one of four ways:
At the Gate
A single admission ticket is valid for the entire day, so if you choose to leave the grounds and return later in the day, please be sure to have your hand stamped at the gate. Institute of Texan CulturesA ticket to the Texas Folklife Festival also includes admission to the Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC), one of the three campuses of the University of Texas at San Antonio. During this years Festival, the ITC will feature the exhibit Children Just Like Me: A Unique Celebration of Children Around the World. The exhibit, based on DK Publishings award-winning book by the same title, Children Just Like Me, showcases the unique diversity of the worlds children through the use of language, food, games, music, clothing and much more. The ITC is open Tuesday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. 6 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. 8 p.m. and Sunday, Noon 5 p.m. The ITC is closed every Monday, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. However, in preparation for the Texas Folklife Festival, the ITC will be closed Tuesday, June 8, and Wednesday, June 9. The ITCs hours of operation for the remaining week will correspond to the Texas Folklife Festivals operating hours. Food and BeveragesThe Texas Folklife Festival proudly features more than 150 authentic dishes from around the world. These delicious foods and beverages are purchased by coupon only and the sales support the states many ethnic cultures. The Festival respectfully requests that all visitors please refrain from bringing ice chests, pets, bicycles and alcoholic beverages onto the event grounds. CouponsFood and beverage coupons, valued at 50¢ each, are available at more than 10 locations throughout the Festival grounds. For your convenience, select booths will accept payment with Visa, MasterCard or Discover with a minimum $20 purchase. Texas Crafts MarketMore than 50 artisans from across the state display their work that includes home décor, artwork, jewelry and so much more. The items on display are also available for purchase. EntertainmentThe Festival has 10 entertainment stages located throughout the grounds, each featuring a wide variety of ethnic and cultural entertainment for the entire family. Click here for more information on entertainment. Personal/Business ChecksWe apologize, but are not able to accept checks for payment of admission tickets or food and beverage coupons. ATMsFor your convenience, there is one ATM located on the Festival grounds as well as one ATM on the main exhibit floor of the ITC building. RefundsThe Festival is unable to provide refunds for admission tickets or unused coupons. Inclement Weather/Rain VIA Park-and-RideFor your convenience, VIA Park-and-Ride services are available from various locations throughout the city and a VIA shuttle bus that makes many stops at hotels throughout the downtown area. For specific information about bus schedules and locations, call VIA Metropolitan Transit at 210.362.2020 or visit their website at www.viainfo.net. (LINK) ParkingThere are various parking options within a short walking distance of the Texas Folklife Festival. However, there is very limited access to handicapped parking and it is recommended that those in need consider VIATrans as a more useful, convenient option for attending the Festival.
