Welcome to the official Texas Folklife Festival website! Now in its 33rd year, the Texas Folklife Festival is hosted by the University of Texas Institute of Texan Cultures at San Antonio and the fun begins on Thursday, June 10, and continues through Sunday, June 13, 2004.
Located in downtown San Antonio on the 22-acre grounds of the Institute of Texan Cultures in HemisFair Park, this four-day, fun-filled celebration showcases Texas diversity, strength and rich heritage by featuring more than 150 delectable dishes created by over 40 ethnic groups, 50 talented arts and craft vendors, 10 outdoor stages presenting the Lone Star States finest musical entertainers and ethnic dancers, storytellers, hands-on activities, artisan demonstrations, competitions, carnival rides and so much more!
A genuine desire to have fun, love of Texas and a hearty appetite are all you need to bring, as you will want to savor the flavors Texas offers in food, entertainment and arts and crafts and enjoy quality time with your family, friends and loved ones. Joining in the fun of the Texas Folklife Festival reminds each and every one of us how lucky we are to live in this great state.
More than 10,000 individuals and their organizations representing more than 40 ethnic groups from 64 counties and 99 cities throughout TexasAlsatian, Belgian, Cajun, Celt, Chinese, Czech, Danish, German, Greek, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Lebanese, Lithuanian, Mexican, Nigerian, Norwegian, Panamanian, Scottish, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Wendishcome together to participate in this cultural celebration by providing visitors with the history and customs of the ethnic origins that make Texas so special!
