Farm Building and Plow

Farm building and plow

The early German immigrants were mainly farmers. The large amount of land that they needed for profitable agriculture was secured by the treaty with the Indians. Farming was made easier with the invention of the plow.

The German immigrants built many fine homes.  To the right is an example of traditional German architecture in Fredericksburg.
