An accurate, well-written, non-fiction account which is one of the best youth books on the Alamo.
Cousins, Margaret. The Boy in the Alamo. 2nd ed., San Antonio: Corona Publishing Co., 1983. (1st ed. We Were There at the Battle of the Alamo, 1958)
A fictional story of 12-year-old Bill Campbell, who follows his brother, who is with Crockett, to the Alamo and eventually goes on to the Battle of San Jacinto and home.The book is accurate on details and life at the time.
Flynn, Jean. William Barret Travis. Austin: Eakin Press, 1982.
This biography of William Travis tells his life story and avoids many of the myths.
Jakes, John. Susanna of the Alamo: A True Story. Orlando: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1986.
A well-written and beautifully illustrated book for elementary students on the Alamo told from the perspective of survivor Susanna Dickinson.
Mulligan, Bryce. You Are There: Battle of the Alamo. Austin: Texas Monthly Press, 1990.
This is an interactive reading that encourages readers to make decisions as they learn about the Texas Revolution.

An outstanding CD-ROM providing comprehensive information on the Texas Revolution with visuals, music, and text along with games, songs, and quizzes. This is the best resource found on the Texas Revolution. It is high interest with lots of repeated-use potential with accurate information from diverse points of view.
