My Alamo
OVERVIEW
Students review the many images of the Alamo and create their own version of the Alamo.
SKILL
Students will practice decision-making skills and transpose visual information to another visual form.
PROCEDURE
1. Tell the students, "Many famous people have painted the Alamo, and every year thousands of visitors take photographs of the Alamo. It has looked different at different times. Over the years it has been built, rebuilt, and restored."
2. "Be an artist and create your own version of the Alamo. It can be realistic. It can be abstract. It can be painted or colored. It can be detailed or simple. It can be pen and ink. It can be a pencil drawing. You decide what kind of an artist you are."
3. "Sign your work and date it in the lower right corner and on the back write a title for your artistic creation."
